Einer Mickelson, Flying Tiger

We invite you to read Flying Tigers: Claire Chennault and His American Volunteers, 1941-1942 by Daniel Ford. The Fergus Falls Municipal Airport is named for Fergus native and Flying Tiger member, Einar “Micky” Mickelson. Formally called the American Volunteer Group, members of the Flying Tigers were World War II aviators who flew missions protecting traffic on the Burma Road supported Chinese troops fighting against the Japanese. Mickelson later joined the Chinese National Aviation Corporation. He died on a flight form India to China.
