May 11, 2007

It was a pleasure to assist Lyle Copelan and his sister today in our research library (check out his website which includes a Family Tree and a Family Tree Blog). The resources we used today while he was here included: biography files, obituary card catalog, cemetery index, township boxes for Deer Creek, Henning, Leaf Lake and Otto townships, County Superintendent’s record books, New York Mills Centennial book, Fiskari Century Farm file and newspapers for Fergus Falls and New York Mills. This is just one example of any given day in our library.

Minnesota Digital Library

April 18, 2007

I met with Marian Rengel, Outreach Coordinator for the Minnesota Digital Library Coalition, yesterday to discuss the possibility of our participation in Phase 3 of “Minnesota Reflections”. Check out the Minnesota Digital Library and specifically the images that we have submitted so far, and give us some suggestions as to which kind of images you would like to see. They are accepting images, documents and maps created through December 31, 1949. Let us know what you think of this project! -Kathy Evavold

OTCHS offers a similar class through Fergus Falls Community Education – Uncovering Hidden Treasures – four times a year – Spring and Fall. We would be happy to arrange a private/group presentation at any time. Give us a call! -Kathy Evavold
